Claude Lévi-Strauss is a French anthropologist who is known for his development of structural anthropology known. Born 28th November 1908 in Belgium as the son of an artist and a member of the family of a French Jewish intellectuals. Levi-Strauss studied at the University of Paris. In 1935-9 he taught at the University of Sao Paulo on several expeditions to central Brazil. Between 1942-1945, he taught at the New School for Social Research. In 1950 he became director of studies at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes practices. In 1959, Levi-Strauss, he assumed the presidency of social anthropology at the College de France. Among his books: The Raw and the Cooked, The Savage Mind, Structural Anthropology and Totemism (Encyclopedia of World Biography).

Some reasonsr his popularity is the rejection of history and humanism in its refusal to Western civilization as a privileged and unique view of its emphasis on form over content, and its demand that the spirit of the Wild l "civilized mind.

Levi-Strauss has many things in his life, including the study of jurisprudence and philosophy. He also reads much of the masterpieces of literature, and he was deeply immersed in classical and contemporary music.

His three "amateurs" in life, we say that Marxism, psychoanalysis, and geology, anthropology, but the opportunities to get in touch with the lives of people of different cultures, rather than Western cultures.
